Description
The Elohim (“They who come from above”) have never revealed their true name to the species that populate our universe. However, they have long been dubbed “Eloh” by those who initially saw these creatures as angelic beings, descending from the heavens with god-like powers.
Not actually gods, or god-like, the Eloh are actually like many other species throughout the known universe – highly intelligent, peaceful, cooperative and insatiably curious. Early on in their history, the Eloh found solutions to strife and discontent within their own society, freeing them to focus on intellectual achievements. Through intense studies in science and mathematics they solved the Unified Field Theorem (using Phi), allowing the creation and manipulation of wormholes as a means of interstellar travel. These studies also resulted in the development of Logos – a science that allows practitioners to move energy and matter from state to state in ways that seem magical to the uninitiated.
Using these means, the Eloh set out to explore the galaxy and meet other interstellar life forms. To understand the modern nature of the Eloh, it is critical to understand this - they did not expect to be the first. They didn’t expect to be first to travel from galaxy to galaxy or first to interact with species from other planets, and they weren’t particularly prepared for that scenario. So they began to teach.
Travelling from planet to planet, they gave freely of their knowledge to any species advanced enough to have a basic understanding of the technologies. Those species that weren’t significantly advanced were seeded with appropriate knowledge and, over the centuries, coached by the Eloh. All these species came to regard the Eloh as magnificent Benefactors – but one.
The tragedy of the Eloh encounter with the Thrax marked the downfall of the Eloh and the beginnings of the war that currently rages throughout the universe. The Thrax took freely of the Eloh knowledge, then turned it against their teachers. The Eloh survived the Thrax attack and decimated the species in a brief war, but in the end, the Thrax did more damage than they could have imagined. The war created a schism in the Elohim: those who argued that they should cease their role as teachers and become leaders, controlling the species of the universe, and those who argued to continue their history of peaceful exploration and shared knowledge.
